How should we get started?
Send me a message by using the Contact Form, emailing me directly at nishmabarron@gmail.com, or calling me at 770 209-2280. I make every effort to respond within a business day. We’ll set up a 15-minute phone conversation so I can learn a little about you and you can see what it feels like to speak with me.

What can I do to get the most out of therapy?
For my style of therapy to be most effective, we have to meet consistently and at a minimum of once per week. With all of life’s competing demands, I know it can be difficult to set aside this time. And, ironically, it’s often when therapy would be most useful that it’s also most difficult to make the time. However, meeting consistently helps us to create a strong foundation, and it can often help, especially at the beginning, with containing and managing difficult emotions. Clients have often said things like, “I started to feel very anxious over the weekend, but I knew I’d be seeing you today and that helped. I was able to move on.” As treatment progresses, you’re likely to feel more able to navigate strong emotions and we’ll be able to investigate some of the deeper reasons for your difficulties. Meeting consistently will help us keep the thread of our conversations alive and allow us to explore whatever comes up in your psyche between sessions.

What is your fee?
I work with a range of fees and reserve a few slots for reduced fee services. Reduced fees are negotiated based on what you can afford and what my practice can accommodate at the time. We can talk about this during our initial phone conversation.

Do you take insurance?
I do not. I’m an “out-of-network” provider. I can provide you with an insurance-friendly invoice that you can submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits. After payment of a deductible, out-of-network benefits likely cover a portion of my fee. You can also use the invoice to obtain reimbursement from a Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account.

You say you work with adult individuals. Does that mean you don’t see couples and families?
That’s right. I believe every individual deserves to be heard, understood, and supported. We’ll work together to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, empathy and respect. This will be the foundation we need as we partner on your journey toward mental and emotional wellness.

There are about a million therapists on the internet! How do I decide?
The bottom line is – you should work with a therapist with whom you feel heard and understood, and only you know when that happens. It may take conversations with several people before you make a decision. If there’s an area of your life you’re hesitant to talk about, you can ask a question in a general way during an initial phone consultation. (“Do you have experience working with XYZ?”) The answer should give you some sense of whether that part of you might feel welcome. Hopefully, each conversation will give you a little more information about what it is you are looking for in a therapist.

If you’re ready for a conversation, let’s talk!
